Garage door spring replacement

An early winter morning, while my husband was about to get into his car parked outside of the garage, he heard a loud bang, something metal. He paused for a second, then got into the car and drove away.

Later when I was about to drive my car parked inside the garage, only to find out that the garage door stuck a quarter way above the ground. I tried several times to open/close the garage door, not a good idea. Then I noticed there are so many words screaming at me on the control display ... ;)

"Excessive closing force detected"... Ehh?!

Garage door spring(s) is broken
Like this!

What do I need to do to replace it? This fellow explains it all, precise and clear.
I'd like to try it, I mean help my husband to try it, if it is summer time. ;)

With my car still in the garage, and the door is stuck and cannot open, I decided to call in an expert.

And one of my friends just knows one ...

Chris came the next day with a new spring and fixed our broken spring within an hour. He also oiled the garage door opener and chains, and now it runs smoothly and quietly. A job well done. I were not at home when he came to fix it. Though I haven't met him in person, I'd trust him with my other torsion spring when the time comes ... :)
